The Projections Managing Partnership (PMP) held its annual Summit from September 27-29, 2017 in Arlington, VA. This event allowed projections analysts to learn directly from each other and from federal representatives about topics that impact their day to day work on employment projections. Day 1 of the Summit was an “Intro to Projections” training, which was geared toward novice projections analysts with 0-2 years of experience. The course entailed lectures and Q&A about topics such as regression analysis, getting data and employment series, and industry and occupational projections. Days 2 and 3 was more interactive with panels and table discussions, including topics such as the Separations Methodology, Report Manager, national perspectives from BLS and ETA, and data suppression.
